Children's Dentistry

Dr. Dodson and Team enjoy seeing parents and children in our Roswell family dental practice. Our goal is to help your child develop healthy habits for maintaining a healthy smile as they grow up.

Making each dental visit a ‘Happy Visit’ for your child will help motivate them to maintain proper oral health as they get older.

Your Child's First Dental Visit

When possible, we recommend that you bring your child in for a tour of our office before any treatment is done. We invite you to bring them along to a routine cleaning visit; this a great introduction for your child to the sights and sounds of the dental environment.

For small children, we find that it works best to schedule an appointment as early in the day as possible. We suggest that you tell them that they are going to visit the dentist who will count their teeth, clean them and take pictures of them.

If you child has extensive dental needs or is very apprehensive, we may refer them to one our pediatric dental specialist colleagues to make sure they get the care that they need.

Dental Sealants

A dental sealant is a plastic coating that is painted onto the chewing surface of a tooth to seal deep grooves, as these are prone to attract decay-causing bacteria. Sealants require no drilling or anesthetic; they create a smooth surface that is easier to keep clean and can last for years.

Dr. Dodson recommends sealants for healthy permanent first and second molars to help prevent tooth decay as your child grows up. We check sealants at regular dental cleanings and can re-apply the sealant material if necessary.

For great information about children's dental care, we recommend that you visit the American Dental Association® website, www.mouthhealthy.org.

We would love to meet you and your family!
